Surrey Satellite Technology Limited
International Conference & Event Graphics
Brief
Gazing at the night sky, a small light you see in the darkness might not be a star, but one of thousands of active satellites currently orbiting the earth.
Found in LEO (lower earth orbit), these incredible feats of engineering - on average smaller in size than a domestic washing machine - are essential for functioning of the internet, navigational GPS, weather forecasting, earth observation, agriculture and disaster monitoring.
Guildford in Surrey is one of the places in the UK at the forefront of space innovation - here, for the past 40 years they’ve designed, built, tested and operated many small satellites, for earth observation, science, communications, navigation, in-orbit debris removal and exploring beyond earth’s infrastructure, including pioneering lunar mission services.
My graphic design work for Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) supports both the Marketing & the Events team by creating branded visuals for Space Conferences, International Airshows, online prescence and Trade delegation events.

Design
Encompassing exhibit design and visual brand guardianship, I design many large-format graphic layouts for SSTL's International exhibits, keeping the brand consistent across multiple touchpoints, whilst ensuring suitability for a specialist audience.
Designs are carefully prepared to be printed in-country and installed as far afield as Utah USA, the Phillipines, Australia; even into orbit (for recognition plaques on board the spacecraft).
Recent international events include Farnborough International Airshow UK, IAC Milan, SmallSAT Utah, USA, and various other trade delegation events for the space sector by European Space Agency (ESA), the North Amercian Space Agency (NASA). Many of these events will be promoting SSTL and the British space industry.

MicroSAR mission badge design for Space Norway: The satellite can see through cloud cover and in daytime & night time conditions. This mission badge design encapsulated the nocturnal shipping communications of the mission, the aurora borealis, using the navy and purple colourway of the Space Norway branding. It was used throughout the project, from bids, spacecraft branding and commemorative etched glass plaque presented to the client.
